Sheaffer Family

One of my best friends referred Hannah to me (thank you Sara!) and she contacted me months ago for a family session. Her husband, a third year surgical resident at the Mayo Clinic, has a busy schedule and we couldn't get a day nailed down in 2017 for their family photos. They welcomed a beautiful baby boy into their family, and we finally set a date for their session! Hooray!

Hannah and Bill are gracious, kind and since my husband is aspiring to be a surgeon himself someday, were so helpful and patient answering all my questions! Their daughter Helena, is BEAUTIFUL and independent. I did manage to capture a smile I think- but mostly she just wanted to explore with Dad, keeping a watchful and serious eye on me though. Their newborn, Knox, was squishy and adorable and smelled like heaven, as all newborns do. He was only four weeks old at the time of our session.

Hannah suggested bringing her baby wrap, since she likes to wear her babies and I loved the idea. I love to incorporate things that are important to you, or your children. Things that are part of your everyday life that probably wouldn't be documented otherwise. I love that she can look back on these images and remember the weight of her babies on her chest, and the swirl of their newborn hair on the back of their head, and their wrinkly feet, and the dimples on the backs of their hands. Time is cruel, and babies grow too quickly. But my hope is that she will treasure these images for a lifetime and that looking upon them will spark a remembrance of joy and the deepest love that is humanly possible.

If you do not have photos with your babies, your toddlers, your children- let's change that. I promise you won't regret it.

Thank you Hannah and Bill for allowing me to capture your beautiful family, for offering advice and support on my husband's medical journey, and for letting me sneak in a little snuggle with Knox. I love the four of you.
