DeWitt Family

It's always a good day when I get to photograph my family. Brian is my husband's oldest brother. He is a doctor and was away with his family for medical school and residency when I married into the family. They are back in Arizona now and it has been fun for me and my kids to get to build relationships with them.

My mother and father in law just purchased property in Heber, about two hours north of Mesa. They were headed up for the weekend after Thanksgiving, so we decided we go and check out their land and do their family session up there!

It was so fun to be able to photograph in a different part of the state! I had fun editing this session as well, using some darker tones to match the surrounding landscape. It's interesting how different a session can feel during a desert sunset versus a mountain sunset!

We had a fun evening together, capturing moments that really tell this family's story.

When I delivered their gallery, my sweet sister in law posted a few photos to her social media account with the caption "Thank you Stacey DeWitt Photo. It's a joy to be on the other side of the camera and see my love for my children shine through your photos."

I love that. Mom's don't get enough screen time. We don't have someone following us around the house with a camera, capturing the moment when our child falls down and we hug them and kiss it better, or when we are reading them a bedtime story, or the way their chubby fingers look wrapped around our big finger helping them up the stairs, or the way we wrap them up in towels after they are freshly bathed and in my opinion, the MOST kissable.

One of my goals in my sessions is to give you those memories. The way your son looks at you, the way your toddler plays with your hair when they hug you, or their hands wrapped around your waist. Time is cruel and before we know it, they're out of one stage and on to the next before we are ready. And my hope is that you will cherish those small things, that become big things in 10 years, 20 years, 30 years.
